Jim Terry here again.

Sometimes I wake up and have my morning smoke and stand out on the porch in front of the street and listen to some tunes, this time some Strauss came on (Also Sprach Zarathustra). It was a good moment, the kind that inspires a fella and not in a Kubrickian 2001 way, just a good, “I can do anything” kind of way. Few and far between, those are, so when they occur you have to file them away and pull them out of the drawer when things are gray.

I’ll try to practice what I preach. Been working on someone’s indie short so I haven’t worked on the books for over two weeks. Feeling anemic.

Laturz.

Jim Terry here.Well, here it is a new week and all and Mother’s Day is over. Thanks to all who came to check out “Free Comic Day” at The Comic Vault. Smashing success, I tell you. Lie Down Low #4 did indeed arrive via UPS the day before and I took them from our delivery guy with sweaty nervous hands. It looks good, the story is coming together by this time. Apologies to all who only have read the first maybe two issues, keep with it and the reward will be there. It’s good to apologize for your art, it inspires a sense of self-confidence and makes people want to be your friend.

“The Gift” #1 is finished and awaiting printing. I spoke briefly to a fella I know who’s good with money, and he seemed a bit surprised that I have no advertisements in the book and it became clear to him why every time I print these bastards I take a hit. It’s all in the game, I tell him. He says, “No it’s not. It’s stupid not to.” “Oh,” I says.

Learning process. It doesn’t help that I get crippled with fear everytime I need to talk to anyone I don’t know, or that despite this alphabet of insecurities I have an incredibly confused and irrational ego telling me I don’t need to ask anything of anyone; that I’ll get by on my own, thank you very much.

Thank God there’s Stravinsky.

You know?
